  • Jefferson County Board of Commissioners President Julie Berry toured the courtroom of the Circuit Court on the third floor of the Jefferson County Courthouse on Thursday with architects wanting to submit statements of qualifications to repair the Courthouse, which was severely damaged by fire May 20. The statements will be accepted until July 9. “There will be no provision for somebody coming in late,” Berry said. Delta Services Inc. of Indianapolis is doing demolition work on the third floor in order to install membrane along the walls and floor to serve as a protective coating from the elements. The membrane will drain out like a giant sink. It will cost about $41,000.

  • The first batch of documents have been returned from Electronic Restoration Services to the Jefferson County Courthouse’s displaced offices. This box of files from the recorder’s office that arrived this week show the signs of ink that ran, but otherwise the documents seem to be in good shape. Documents received water damage when the Courthouse roof and cupola burned May 20.
