Accident at Arby's

  • A GMC Safari van was driven into the side entrance of Arby’s Restaurant on the corner of State Road 7 and Clifty Drive on Thursday afternoon. Madison police said the van driver was attempting to back out of a parking place when he hit the gas. He accidentally had the vehicle in drive rather than reverse, the officer on the scene said. The driver, Eric J. Cullimore-Daynes, 82, of 3263 E. Geyman Hill Road, was cited for driving while license suspended. Two pedestrians received minor injuries from the accident and were treated by King’s Daughters’ Hospital EMS. Police estimated the toal damage at $10,000.

  • John Harvey of J.M. Harvey Electric uses a lift to get to the tops of the Main Street building facades Thursday. Harvey has been making his way up and down the street to repair and replace lights that shine throughout the holiday season. Harvey does the work each year and said he is still fixing lights from the windstorm of September 2008. He said the damage is now from the roofers who accidentally damaged lights while making repairs on the buildings.
